Between a Witch and a Hard Place (Vanessa Kinley, Witch PI, Book 1) by Celia Roman

Cover Art Galore

The last few months have been a whirlwind of activity, aside from the holiday frenzy.

For one, I just launched a new series, the Vanessa Kinley, Witch PI Series. Between a Witch and a Hard Place, the first of four novels and a prequel novella, came out on November 30th.

The cover for the first book was originally a premade Kindle Vella cover I spotted on the Facebook page for Nocturne Art. It's a one thing led to another kinda thing, but that's what sparked the entire series.

Here are all five books, in chronological order, for your viewing pleasure.

I've set tentative release dates for the other books in the series and will have more news on that as the dates approach.

While the design team at Nocturne Art was working on creating covers for Nessa, I approached another designer to create new covers for the Sunshine Walkingstick Series. The first three books have been out for four years. It was time for an update.

Sadly, that other designer and I had to part ways shortly into the process. That turned out to be fortuitous, as Nocturne Art agreed to give Sunny a brand new look. Here those are in all their gloriousness.

Yes, that's the official cover for Vampire Alley, Book 6, which I have been talking to y'all about off and on since Book 5, Devil's Branch's release in November 2020.

Sunny and I sat down and had a long chitchat about Vampire Alley. For one, we were both disappointed that Book 6 couldn't be released in 2021. This year has been a reset year, where I thought long and hard about the direction I wanted to go in between packing and moving the contents of various houses. The Kindle Vella cover was the deciding factor, and y'all know what happened there.

But as for Sunny's story, my goal was to publish a book every twelve to eighteen months until the series was complete. Due to that big reset (and 2021's reset was huge), there will be a bigger gap between Devil's Branch and Vampire Alley.

Not too much bigger, though. I'm aiming for a release date in November 2022, which gives me an entire year to think about and write Vampire Alley.

Now, there are a few covers I can't share today because I don't have stories to go with them yet. I picked up five new premade ebook covers from Nocturne Art during their Small Business Saturday sale a few days back. Two of the covers may turn into spinoff series for characters from Nessa's story world, only one of whom have y'all met. The other three covers? I haven't decided yet, but they are gorgeous and I can't wait to share them with you.
